AimsThe Friends of Midsummer Common (FoMC) is a community group committed to the principle of equal opportunities for all and aims to ensure that all its members and volunteers are treated fairly and on an equal basis, irrespective of their gender, age, disability, ethnic origin, colour, creed, social status or sexual orientation. FoMC also aims to ensure the safety of children and vulnerable adults when attending activities they have organised. FoMC will:
FoMC welcomes disabled members, within the limits imposed by access to Midsummer Common. FoMC would welcome more severely disabled members if accompanied by a suitable carer who would attend to their personal care needs. FoMC requires that all children or vulnerable adults attending events organised by FoMC be accompanied by a responsible adult who can attend to their personal needs. FoMC does not accept any form of discriminatory behaviour by its members or volunteers and will challenge such behaviour in whatever way it sees fit. This includes the right to discipline or exclude members who practise discrimination in breach of this statement. FoMC does not carry out Criminal Records Bureau checks on volunteers. This policy will be reviewed every 3 years, unless there are changes to legislation and/or difficulties in practical application.
